Warner is frontman of the band Marilyn Manson. He and Trent Reznor were close friends until sometime in the late 1990s when they grew apart after the recording of Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar. They reconciled in 2000, which resulted in Manson sharing the stage with NIN at Madison Square Garden and a featuring in the Starsuckers, Inc. video, although they have since fallen out again.

Lyrics to The Warning appeared on the liner notes for With Teeth. It is currently unknown if it is the same song that appears on Year Zero.
