Nine Inch Nails Forum Rules

Welcome to Source: Perfect Isolation, the Nine Inch Nails discussion forums for this site. You'll have immediate access to read the Nine Inch Nails related forums. If you would like to join the existing community in contributing to the site by posting, plus have the opportunity to read the off-topic discussions, please register.

If this is your first time visiting please read though the forum rules and helpful information below.

The rules here are very simple and everyone, new and regulars, is expected to follow them to the best of their ability. These rules will be reinforced with PMs requesting the behavior to stop or, in extreme cases, suspending or even banning.

  • Treat all PIers with respect. Bigoted, hateful, or racially offensive statements will not be tolerated nor will harassment of another member, including threats or unwanted contacts. Personal arguments need to be taken to PM or dropped entirely.
  • Participation in antisocial, disruptive, or destructive acts will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to, "flaming", "spamming", and "trolling". Creating MPDs (more than one account) for disruptive purposes will also not be tolerated. Creating MPDs will result in an instant ban from PI.
  • No street-teaming. This is the shameless act of registering an account only for the purpose of starting a thread which plugs a band/website/product/etc. This is frowned upon and considered poor taste. Don't do it.
  • Let the Moderators Moderate. It's not your job to try and reinforce the rules, that's what the moderators are here to do. If you have a problem with a post or another member use the "Report this post to a moderator" feature or contact a moderator directly through the PM system.
  • Think Before You Post. This is a message board to allow NIN fans to communicate intelligently with each other, not a place to allow every fanboy to post "I luv Trent."

Again, breaking any of the rules above can result in 1) A PM from a moderator, 2) a suspension, or 3) a banning (to be determined by the moderator). Mods also have the choice to remove offending threads or posts if desired.

Community Suggestions:

Over the years some rules have developed through the community. Think of this as a guide for how things work on PI. While most of the community rules will not result in a suspension or a banning, it is a good idea to follow them if you wish to fit in.

  • Lurk – If you are new to PI you may want to read before creating your first post. Lurking for a week or two will help you get to know the community and the way things work.
  • Use the Random Thread – Throughout PI you can find "Random Thread" topics. Use these threads if what you wish to talk about does not warrant its own thread.
  • Netspeak = No Speak – Netspeak is not well received at PI. Try to type as you normally would talk. (Netspeak is the act of using abbreviated text to replace the normal spelling of a word. "n e" for "any," etc).
  • Work Safe – Many PIers view the boards from work. Please keep pictures and avatars clean.
  • Animated Avatars - Most people don't want flashing avatars giving them seizures. This rule is backed by the moderators of PI - animated avatars will be removed.

If everyone follows the rules and suggestions above, PI should be an enjoyable place for all. If this all sounds good to you, go get in the forums!
